It was the „EXPO 2000“ in Hannover that inspired the theatre director to present a musical in Hamelin. He found Nigel Hess' composition to Robert Brownings poetry enhanced by the texts of Jeremy Browne in England and re-imported the story.
The German translation of the musical is so well-loved by the Hamelin public, that it has been running in the sommertime ever since. Guests flock right in the centre of the town under the church tower where the story began to see the humorous and emotional version of the Pied Piper legend.
The spark of enthusiasm spread quickly to the local business community, who have been sponsoring the production and keeping the admission free of charge. Many thanks to the sponsors.
